At Columbia University Irving Medical Center, I work on neuroimaging projects to better understand the treatment and causes of depression and bipolar disorder. The hope is to bring the field of psychiatry forward in order to provide better treatment options for patients. I have published a number of papers and book chapters related to mood disorders. Please see my CV for further information. All research procedures are carefully overseen by an Institutional Review Board. Patients cannot participate in the research at the same time as receiving treatment through my private practice due to ethical concerns. In that way, the two are separate. I find that conducting research allows me to stay at the cutting edge of treatment possibilities and clinical knowledge.
